Step 1: Open the Matrix Olympiad App
Open the Matrix Olympiad app on your device and log in using your registered credentials. Make sure you are using the account with which you registered for the Matrix Olympiad.
Step 2: Find the Stage 1 Test:

Matrix Olympiad Stage 1 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The Stage 1 exam has 60 objective-type MCQs and a duration of 2 hours. The official Matrix Olympiad information states that students receive +4 marks for a correct answer and -1 mark for a wrong answer. Every student will get 2 hours, which works out to about 2 minutes per question.
The mock paper in the live session also had other question types, like paragraph-based and multiple-correct questions. How the Exam Screen Works on the Matrix Olympiad App?
The Matrix Olympiad App exam screen makes it easy to navigate questions, track your time, review answers, and submit the test correctly.
- Find your test. On exam day, your test shows up on the app’s home screen.
- Read the instructions screen. It shows the time limit, total marks, number of questions, and the marking scheme. Read it properly and don’t skip it.

What You’re Competing For?

Scholarships: Matrix has set aside ₹91 crore for scholarships across its JEE, NEET, CLAT, NDA and schooling programmes. This is not cash given to one student. Each student’s scholarship is between 5% and 100% of the tuition fee, based on your performance in both Stage 1 and Stage 2, your district and state rank, and how many students took part in your class. For example, if your tuition fee is ₹1 lakh and you get an 80% scholarship, you pay ₹20,000. Olympiad scholarships apply only to the 2027-28 session. Students already studying at Matrix or Matrix High School are not eligible for these scholarships, though they can still win cash prizes, prize kits and the Europe trip.
Cash prizes: Cash prizes total ₹51 lakh and are given on the basis of district and state ranks in Stage 2. The amount for each rank is decided after Matrix sees how many students took part in that class, so figures like ₹25,000, ₹10,000 or ₹5,000 mentioned in the session are examples, not fixed amounts. If fewer than 1,000 students in a class write Stage 2, the cash prizes for that class are reduced in proportion.
Europe trip: The top 8 toppers across all classes win an educational tour to Europe. The plan isn’t final yet, but Anupam Sir mentioned Switzerland, with a possible visit to the international particle physics lab depending on availability, and Germany, known for its engineering universities. A few conditions apply, as per the brochure:
- Only winners who take admission at Matrix for the 2027-28 session are eligible.
- There is no option to take cash instead of the tour.
- If the tour is cancelled because of government rules, each winner gets ₹51,000.
- If a visa is rejected, Matrix doesn’t pay any compensation.
Other rewards: The top 1% of students in Classes 5 to 9 are invited to a seven-day residential Talent Enrichment Camp at Matrix, and toppers are honoured at a felicitation programme held from 20 November to 10 December.

How is the Europe Trip Decided for Matrix Olympiad Exam?
Scoring well in Stage 1 is not enough on its own. You need to be in the top 25% of Stage 1, write Stage 2 offline at Sikar, and finish among the top 8. Your rank decides this, not a fixed percentage. If the paper is hard and everyone scores low, an 85% could still be enough to make the top 8.
If two students end up with the same marks, the brochure’s tie-breaker applies. Up to Class 10, the higher score in Maths, then Physics, then Chemistry decides the rank. For Classes 11 and 12, the order is Maths or Biology, then Physics, then Chemistry. If those are also equal, the younger student gets the higher rank.
Stage 2 is held offline because an online exam leaves room for cheating, and Matrix can’t fairly give a prize for a result it can’t trust. Stage 1 at home is the filter. Stage 2 is the supervised test that decides the final ranks.
